Regional Committee

Queensland Regional Committee (QRC) sets policy for the management of the Queensland Region within the guidelines set by the SSSI Board, and operates under the Queensland Regional Rules, which incorporate the terms of the SSSI Constitution.

The Queensland membership elects members on a biennial basis to the QRC from each of the four Commissions (Land Surveying and Hydrography, Engineering and Mining Surveying, Spatial Information and Cartography, and Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry).

Two Commission members are elected to represent the Region on the Institute Commissions, while one is elected to the Regional Committee.  Another eight members of the QRC are elected as General committee members.  Three General positions are reserved on the QRC for the Chairs of the Northern and Central Groups, and the Young Professionals. The QRC elects its own Chair, who also sits on the SSSI Board.

The QRC meets monthly: alternately face-to-face in Brisbane, and by teleconference for sub-regional members. The QRC are constantly seeking the opinions of its membership on a variety of issues to ensure the needs of members are understood and met.
