Investigations and surveys of teachers in recent years concluded that the main needs of teachers to assist in implementation of spatial technologies in schools were access to resources, training, not only networking with other teachers to share ideas and resources with, but links to the spatial community for support and data. There needs to be a cross-curricular and learning phases approach as well as pathways opportunities as has already been touched on.
So, what are spatial technologies?
Spatial Technologies include any form of information technology that refer to place, space and location. In other words, an answer to a ‘where’ question….and since everything is somewhere on the earth’s surface, spatial technologies play an integral role across government and industries. In fact, most were developed for military purposes but are now used to save lives through emergency services, etc.
